Wildcard Wednesdays 2019, Brinn Labs, Wednesday, 10. July 2019

Wildcard Wednesdays is a summer series for students ages 13-16. Wildcard Wednesdays are offered weekly, July 8 – August 28th.
Wednesday sessions are devoted to specific maker skills, with demonstrations, instruction and projects, so you can practice what you have learned – that’s where the wildcard comes in!
Single sessions are $40; five session bundle for $160 (choose which sessions you would like to attend as you complete your order).
July 10
Natural Fabric Dyes and ShiboriWe will be exploring natural dyes created from fruits, veggies, plants and other material that you might find in your pantry or garden. We will also be covering the basics of Shibori, the ancient Japanese art form of folding and dying fabrics, though today you might describe it as "tie dye." Students should come ready to get a little messy and bring one to two white cotton shirts - we will provide the rest!

Introduction To CeramicsPottery and ceramics can take many forms and some of the most basic methods are the most fun – this class will focus on pinching, coiling and an introduction to how the world around is made in clay!
July 24
Wire Sculptures and AnimationWire can be rigid or flexible and often used to create the armatures - frameworks - for animation puppets. Use our equipment, tools and materials to create a wire sculpture and bring it to life with stop motion animation.
July 31
Cyanotype Printing and PhotographyLearn the basics of framing a photo, creating a negative from a digital image and how to use the sun and chemicals to create a printed image. Bring in some feathers, dried leaves, or anything that casts an interesting shadow to create your print.
August 7
Sewn CircuitsElectronics and sewing!? Join us to learn the basics of circuitry and hand sewing with conductive thread! We will be making a light-up felt patch or ornament that can really brighten your bag or wall.
August 14
Printmaking We will be covering the history of printmaking and its many forms. From typesetting your own signs to screen printing fabric, students will learn multiple techniques and create some one-of-a-kind prints to take home.
August 21
Casting with ConcreteThis common material used in construction is now being used for all sorts of furniture and art projects. Learn different casting techniques, how to use found objects for mold making at home and create an unique vessel. Dress for a mess and bring containers, bottles, flower pots, etc.
August 28Sticker Art Create your own stickers using our vinyl cutter. Learn the basics of vector art and how vinyl cutters are used to make stencils, resists, stickers and more.
Class Policies
Please be respectful of the short time you and the other participants have to learn, and arrive at least 5 minutes before class so we can start on time.
Cancellation of Class
If minimum number is not met in class enrollment, the instructor may opt to cancel class. In the event of a cancellation you will be offered a spot in a future class. We will attempt to give as much notice as possible in the case of a cancellation.
Parking
There is free parking available in the parking lot on the corner of Stewart St. and Allis St.
