504HealthNet, Odyssey House Louisiana and the New Orleans Arts Council are joining forces to create a unique training experience regarding the opioid epidemic for our C-Suite Members and Prescribers in the Greater New Orleans Region.  In addition to being held at Ashe` Cultural Center, this training will be an opportunity for creative engagement and expression that supports the health and well-being of our community.
The opioid epidemic continues to impact our New Orleans community and just last year there were a reported 208 accidental overdose deaths. We all have a role in alleviating the impact of the opioid epidemic and addiction through the provision of unique and necessary services.  We are each a piece of the puzzle for addiction treatment, health equity, and positive health outcomes throughout our community.
The workshop will have the following learning objectives:

Create a unique environment for prescribers to share stories and lessons learned of working in community health care and addressing the Opioid Epidemic.

Improve knowledge on appropriate opioid prescribing and co-prescribing of naloxone, in addition to alternatives available for patients that are experiencing pain.

Improve knowledge on treating opioid addiction in a community health center setting, building upon current treatment protocols and workflows for chronic diseases and co-morbidities within  patient population.

Improve communication skills throughout agencies to ensure use of inclusive and culturally appropriate language when addressing opioid addiction.
