About this Event
SaltStack Certified Administrator Exam
This exam is offered as an online test. After registration, candidates will receive an email containing login information needed to login to the exam.
Candidates are allowed 60 minutes to complete the 80 question exam. A passing score is 75% or greater. The Exam is based on the SaltStack Enterprise I class taught by SaltStack.
The exam includes questions related to the following SaltStack topics:
SaltStack installation and configuration
Configuration parameters for Salt masters and minions in great detail.
Common targeting criteria - globbing, regular expressions, grains, etc.
Common Salt execution modules – Usage and knowledge of execution modules like ‘test.ping’ ‘sys.doc’ ‘git’ and ‘grains’
Common Salt state modules – Usage and knowledge of state modules like ‘pkg’ and ‘network’
Common requisites and declarations -- e.g. require, watch, onchanges, etc.
Templating – Using Jinja and other template techniques to generate and drive Salt processes
Working with Windows minions - Windows-specific salt modules
Salt Orchestration - Using orchestration to provide a complete workflow process through Salt
Reactors and Beacons - Configuring reactors and beacons to work together to accomplish a proactive and automated workflow
Salt keys – Authentication and encryption between Salt masters and minions
Salt security – Role Based Access Controls (RBAC) configurations within SaltStack Enterprise
SaltStack Comply and Protect - Understanding of how SaltStack Enterprise provides regulatory compliance and vulnerability assessment and remediation
Enterprise API (eAPI) - understand how the master interacts with SaltStack Enterprise through the API
Salt-Cloud - Use salt-cloud to provision systems on various cloud providers (e.g. AWS, Azure, VMWare, etc.)

Have demonstrable real-world experience with SaltStack Enterprise
The exam is hosted on an online system, so you need Internet access and we recommend using Chrome version 8 or higher for the web browser. Others supported by the site used to host the exam are:
