Poetic Process: A Writing Workshop (10 weeks on Tuesdays), TBD, Tuesday, 19. March 2019

Commitment comes before confidence.
This generative workshop will help you build your confidence as a writer. Each workshop will include prompts, reading, exercises, and positive feedback to get you writing, which is the only way to develop your craft, which is how you build confidence as a writer, which is what helps you follow your dreams of writing. LIMITED TO 12 WRITERS.
“Words are events, they do things, change things. They transform both speaker and hearer; they feed energy back and forth and amplify it.” —Ursula K. Le Guin
Join a diverse group of women who have a desire to write, to share their voices, and to change the world. This workshop was designed for entrepreneurs, corporate employees, and other "nonwriters" (i.e., you love to write but have trouble calling yourself a "writer").
What you will get out of this workshop:

Lots and lots of ideas.
Got too many ideas? Now expand on them.
Dive deep into your life and mission.
Discover your unique truth.
Experiment without judgement or fear.
Be creative.
Find inspiration.
Community of support and encouragement.
Take tools back to your own personal writing practice, and keep growing as a writer.

What you will NOT get out of this workshop:

Marketing tactics, content, and to-do's.
A flood of "shoulds" that keep you from writing.
Endless comparison with other writers.
Unhelpful critique.
"How to publish."

This is real writing for a real purpose, even if it's simply to write something, anything, and to follow your dreams of writing.
Why "poetic"?
Poetry is the base of all writing, and also writing in its highest form. We will not be writing poetry (though you can if you want, and sometimes it's just what comes out), but we will be using much of what poetry has to teach us about writing, and about life.
NOTE ON LOCATION: Location will depend on who and how many sign up, but it will be in the Portland area and announced with enough advance notice.
*Complement this workshop with my fall workshop: Develop Your Craft.
