- Hear experiences from Rutgers alumni about landing a first job in pharmaceutical and healthcare companies
This event provides students with the opportunity to meet with scientists from Janssen, Johnson & Johnson and Merck to gain first-hand information and practical advice on career development. Panelists will discuss their current roles as well as share their insights into internship, job searching, resume/cover letter writing, interviews and many others. An hour-long panel discussion will be followed by a 30-minute networking and dinner reception.
Anne Yuqing Yang, PhDSenior Scientist, Preclinical Science, Upstream Innovation PlatformsJohnson & Johnson Consumer Health
Anne is a senior scientist in Preclinical Science, Upstream Innovation Platforms, Johnson & Johnson Consumer Health. She is supporting Device and leading sun protection preclinical model development, and responsible for supporting the Sun Protection benefit platform. Anne joined the Skin Biology team in Upstream Innovation Platforms R&D as a postdoctoral scientist in J&J consumer health in May 2018.
Before J&J, Anne had B.S in Pharmacy at China Pharmaceutical University and finished her thesis by the guidance of Prof. Tony Kong in 2011. She decided to pursue a career in science and received her Ph.D. in the guidance of Prof. Tony Kong in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Dept of Pharmaceutics, Rutgers University-New Brunswick in October 2017. Her research focused on inflammation, oxidative stress, cellular damage/repair, Pharmacokinetics (PK)/pharmacodynamics (PD) modeling, epigenetics/ epigenomics in cancer research. She has 30 peer-reviewed publications and 20+ posters in conferences.
Jongbong Lee, PhDScientist, Clinical Pharmacology and PharmacometricsThe Janssen Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson & Johnson
Jongbong did his PhD in pharmacokinetics and biopharmaceutics. Then he joined Rutgers as a postdoc where he switched gears a bit and focused on PK/PD modeling and simulations. After one and a half years of postdoc, he joined Janssen and now is a scientist in Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacometrics, working on dose optimization, clinical trial design, and data analysis.
Xiaowei Zang, PhDSenior Scientist, Quantitative Pharmacology and PharmacometricsMerck & Co.
Xiaowei is a Senior Scientist in the Quantitative Pharmacology and Pharmacometrics (QP2) Group at Merck & Co. She serves as a QP2 leads on preclinical and clinical drug development teams. She applies quantitative approaches to develop and implement translational strategies, characterize clinical pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of new chemical entities, and inform dose selection and Go/No-Go decisions.
Prior to joining Merck, Xiaowei received her Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from Rutgers University in 2018 and M.S. in Genetics and Developmental Biology from West Virginia University in 2013.
