Perfume 101, The Institute for Art and Olfaction - Chinatown, Saturday, 25. May 2019

Have you always wanted to understand and make perfume, without knowing where to start, and how to learn? Tim can help, in this introduction to perfumery for olfactive adventurers and budding scent makers - learn the difference between top, middle and bottom notes, how to make a dilution along with a brief cover of perfume math, and much more in this theory-focused us as Tim leads participants on an aromatic journey covering the basics of scent literacy, and a glimpse into how perfume is made. As a group, the class will:
+ Explore fragrance families and classifications, through examples+ Get the how-to on working with a scale+ Learn about making lab solutions+ Spend some time smelling (and discussing) a curated selection of molecules+ Spend some time making a group blend, all under Tim's watchful eyes
Participants will leave with the basic knowledge they need to start a journey down the rabbit hole of making scent, as well as a more considered understanding of what they encounter at the fragrance counter.

Cancellation policy

When we host a class or workshop, we often order the materials to be used in the class well in advance, based on how many people have signed up (and padding a bit for safety).
We also use class proceeds to pay our teachers.
Although we realize that life has a funny way of getting in the way of the best laid plans, as a small non-profit we cannot afford to carry the burden of lost proceeds and materials.
With that in mind, here is our refund policy:
– Cancellation with refund or credit requests made 2 weeks or more (14 days) before the scheduled class will be honored with gusto! We’ll miss you, but will 100% refund your spot, or give you credit for another class. – Refunds or class credits requested less than 14 days before the scheduled class: We will refund you 50% of your class fee. Why? Because we’ve already ordered the materials. – Refunds or class credits requested less than 48 hours before the class, on the day of the class or after the class has happened will not be granted.
Note also that event tickets are non-transferable.
Thank you for understanding!
