Class Description
In this class we look at the nature of common conversations where ambivalence and reluctance about behavior change is the main theme. In these conversations it is easy to play the role of the expert and tell the person what they need to do in order to improve their situation. The problem is that this often provokes resistance in the ambivalent person, forcing them to voice the non-change side of their ambivalence, and reducing the likelihood of behavior change. This class presents an alternative guiding style for these conversations using Miller and Rollnick’s “OARS” skills.
