Monthly Two-Way Radio Practice - Nov 2019, Denny's Restaurant: Commmunity Room, Thursday, 21. November 2019

Two-way radio communication is a key part of our disaster preparedness and response plan.
To be able to talk to someone blocks or even miles away in real time when power is out and cellphones don't work will save time, limit the need for runners to be sent blocks away, and possibly even lives.
It sounds simple: Push to talk, Release to listen.
But when it comes down to it, who are you talking to and what do you say?
Every month, we'll practice using our radios and help you get more comfortable using them.

If you don't have a radio, come anyway.  We'll have radios for you to borrow.
If you're afraid of radios, come to this class, we're here to help and give you plenty of practice in a low stress environment.
If you have questions about your radios, bring them.

We'll meet at Denny's Restaurant in Glassell Park in their Community Room at 6:30pm and have dinner, talk about the radio basics and then around 7:00 we'll start the hands-on practice and expect to end at 9:30.
We will be running team scenarios with team leaders, scribes, and radio operators just like you would be doing during a CERT response during a disaster.
