Leaders Mixer: Georgetown University & UCLA, Washington, Thursday, 19. September 2019

Join the Dream Resource Center of the UCLA Labor Center and Georgetown University for an evening of mixing and mingling! Meet fellows and alumni from the following fellowships:

Dream Summer
Empowers immigrant youth to be the next generation of social justice leaders through leadership and professional development, movement building, and on-the-ground experience in social justice organizations; creates safe and healing spaces for immigrant youth to connect and build with one another; and promotes an intersectional, cross-racial, and intergenerational approach to social justice that addresses the needs of immigrant communities.

Labor Capital Strategies Fellowship
The Labor Capital Strategies (LCS) Fellowship matches undergraduate students with top labor groups and progressive investment groups advocating for working people. The internship program is jointly run by the Kalmanovitz Initiative and Heartland Capital Strategies. The LCS Internship provides an opportunity for students to observe the impact of finance and capital strategy, support efforts to strengthen the labor movement and develop their own understandings and skillsets. Through their involvement in labor capital strategies organizations, students develop their own views of the challenges facing workers in the modern economy and the role of worker justice. From these experiences, students contribute to the next generation of the worker justice movement.

KI Organizing Fellowship
The purpose of the KI Organizing Fellowship is to expose students to activism and organizing work. The fellowship provides an opportunity for students to observe the impact of community and labor organizing, support and contribute to ongoing campaigns and projects, and develop their own organizing skills. Through firsthand involvement in local campaigns, students will develop their own view of the challenges facing workers in the modern economy and the role of worker justice in a larger social justice context. From these experiences, students contribute to the next generation of the worker justice movement.
