Genny Smith memorial naturalist hikes, Mammoth Lakes Welcome Center, Saturday, 13. July 2019

Join Nora Livingston, the Mono Lake Committee's Lead Naturalist Guide for a moderate 2-5 mile hike through a variety of habitats including aspens, conifers, sagebrush scrub and alpine lakes to celebrate the legacy of the Naturalist Queen of the Eastern Sierra, Genny Smith, who passed away last year. This hike provides excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing, wildflower wonderment, and general sightseeing. Meet at the Mammoth Lakes Welcome Center parking lot (directions below). This guided 3-4 hour hike requires a moderate level of fitness.

Tours are free, but reservations are encouraged to secure your spot.


Binoculars and field guides are encouraged.

How do I get to the Mammoth Lakes Welcome Center?From Highway 395 turn onto Highway 203 northwest towards Mammoth Lakes. Continue straight for about 2.5 miles and turn right into the parking lot for the Forest Service/Welcome Center.
What should I bring for the tour?Please bring binoculars if you have them, sun protection (sun hat, sunscreen, sunglasses) and plenty of drinking water.
