It culminates with the exodus of hundreds of artists from the island. The book is written by witnesses to the history, as well as by Cuban American experts in the field. It starts with an introduction by Pulitzer Prize winner William Kennedy and includes hundreds of photographs never before published of the Cuban art scene during the 1980s. It displays 80 full-page color images of the work of these Cuban artists as well as in-depth interviews with a dozen artists by Dr. Silvia Pedraza from the University of Michigan. The last book that profiled Cuban artists living in the U.S.A. was published over 25 years ago.
