2019 CAST Young Elite Award (YEA)  
YEA Program Introduction
The Young Elite Award (YEA) is one of the flagship programs of CAST Education. The YEA is designed to encourage the younger generation of CAST members to achieve high academic performance, develop leadership skills, develop a strong interest in science and engineering, and excel in extracurricular andcommunity service. It also aims to enable them to achieve the greatest possible impact on our community. These well-rounded skills will enable them become strong leaders in this very competitive global marketplace.
YEA Program Objectives
This award is designed to encourage the younger generationof CAST members to: Achieve high academic performance Develop leadership skills Develop a strong interest in science & engineering Excel in extracurricular & community service
Award: 10 recipients ($300 per recipient)Honorable Mention: 20Application Deadline: 9/22/2019Application Fee: $30 per applicant for child of CAST member, or $50 per applicant for non-member

YEA Application Requirement
9th, 10th or 11th grade student during the spring 2019 semester in USA In the top 10% of current school academic score ranking Finalists are invited to present at the 2019 Global Innovation Summit in Pittsburgh PA at the YAEAward Ceremony on 10/12/19 to receive the award. Finalist who doesn’t present at the AwardCeremony will still receive the certificate but will lose the monetary award.
YEA Program Application Processes
Please submit the following documents no later than Aug 31st, 2019 via either method:1) At , create a folder using your full name, then drop the require docs (b,c,d,f,g) to your folder; or  2) email to
   a. Application form    b. A one-page biography that best describes your academic achievement, strong interest in engineering,                   community services, extracurricular activities and personal aspiration.   c. Academic Records:       i. Official High School Transcript         1. An official transcript         2. The transcript should show coursework and/or rank up to 2018 fall semester. If the latest transcript can’t               be obtained, please add a statement.      ii. For completed College Coursework, including dual credit Coursework, while in high school: Submit official           transcripts of the credit issued by the college or university.   d. Community Services Materials:       i. Accumulate community service hours and proof materials such as certificate(s), photos etc.       ii. A one-page essay that best describes your leadership potential and the impact of your community service.   e. TWO recommendation letters: ONE is from your teacher; another ONE is from your community services               leader using the enclosed templates or online submission.    f. A recent portrait photo in JPEG (with formal dress/suit and clear background; resolution higher than                    720x480).   g. A short self-introductory video clip (2-5 min) to give the judges a quick understanding about who you are,             your projects and ambition for career development (optional).

Academic performance (GPA) - 25% Extra-curricular activities - 20% Community service - 20% Personal aspiration, biography - 10% Recommendations - 10% Inventions /innovation - 15%
 YEA Program Award Process
10 judges from various industries across all CAST chapters Every applicant receives scores from 3 different judges YEA committee review the judge scores and takes the average Top 30 highest scores are selected as finalists Top 10 highest scores are awarded YEA
Finalists will be announced in the second week in September. Names and photographs of all finalists will bepublished in the convention proceedings and will be posted at the annual convention. The YEA recipients will also receive a Two Year Membership of CAST (any chapter).
